The Board of Directors and Management at 82nd Street Academics use Policy Governance and the Scaling Up Performance Platform to accomplish the mission. Since youth who face societal barriers need more than good wishes, the planning and oversight system creates a robust platform. 

Policy Governance has 4 sets of policies that govern 82nd Street Academics

  1. Governance Process policies? In addition, How does the Board measure its own behavior?
  2. Board-Management Delegation policies?
  3. What are the Executive Limitation policies? Actions that are forbidden for the Executive Director/CEO?
  4. What are the Ends policies – the results by which everything is measured?
    • 82nd Street will get kids to college who don’t speak English at home or face other societal barriers. 
    • Also, 82nd Street Academics will improve 8 Social Emotional indicators for children and youth to empower them for college
    • Finally, 82nd Street Academics will teach study skills so that students have the self-disciplines needed for college success

The Scaling Up Performance Platform is strategic planning and execution software. Our belief is that the staff working with students increase effectiveness with quality professional development. Therefore, they can use every programming minute wisely. In addition, Scaling Up provides the communication and accountability needed for de-centralized. effective programs.
