OUR SCHOOL
Welcome to 82nd Street Academics journey, where we've been shaping futures since 1974. Our story began as Community Church, with the inception of Pre-K classes, marking the first step in our mission to enrich the lives of countless children in Jackson Heights. As our commitment deepened, we introduced a Summer School program in 1985, tailored to support Chinese students and renowned for its role in keeping young minds sharp during the summer months.
In 1997, we took another stride forward with the establishment of the Afterschool Achievement Club, designed to assist both parents and students in navigating the challenges of homework successfully. Recognizing the growing impact of our efforts, in 2003, Community Church made the decision to formalize our educational initiatives as a separate entity.

In 2021, we expanded our reach through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program at Renaissance Charter School 2. This initiative provides academic and enrichment activities for 120 students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade, blending STEM projects, arts, sports, and cultural education into an engaging afterschool experience.

Despite these evolutions, our core aspiration remains unchanged – to empower the youth of Jackson Heights, ensuring they are equipped for the journey to college and beyond.

Today, 82nd Street Academics stands as a beacon of opportunity, with multiple sites across Queens dedicated to preparing over 1,000 students annually for the pathways to career success, home, and personal fulfillment.
