Renaissance AfterSchool
Middle School

82nd Street Academics is pleased to offer a free afterschool program for students in grades 5 through 10 attending The Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights, funded by The After School Corporation, The Renaissance Charter School, NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, and the New York City Council.

 

This program operates Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and may also have openings for students from IS 230 or IS 145. Additionally, we provide a companion tuition-based program at our location on 8110 35th Avenue, including daily pickup services from The Renaissance Charter School.

After School at Ren 2

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers program at Renaissance Charter School 2 provides afterschool academic and enrichment activities for 120 students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

 

Our program offers homework help, and hands-on STEM projects that reinforce school day learning in a fun, engaging way. In addition to academics, we provide recreational activities such as sports, arts, and cultural education, helping students build creativity, teamwork, and social skills.

 

Our program ensures a safe and supervised environment afterschool, reducing the risks associated with unsupervised time. Supported by federal funding, the 21st Century program at Renaissance Charter School 2 is free for families, providing valuable resources that promote students' academic growth, positive behavior, and confidence.

AfterSchool PS280

Welcome to the Afterschool program at PS 280Q in Queens, New York City, serving 130 students and funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development. This program begins right after school and includes homework assistance, arts and crafts, gym or playground time, and a hot meal. It operates year-round, with a 7-week summer program in addition to the regular school year.

At 82nd Street Academics, we prepare your child for the next grade and facilitate transitions to middle and high school, ultimately supporting their path to a quality public university. Our core values—Empower Students, Lifetime Learning, and Delight Students—reflect our commitment to nurturing each child’s potential and love for learning.

We utilize unique educational tools such as the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) and Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences to provide exceptional support.

Hunters Point AfterSchool Program

The Hunters Point AfterSchool Program at Hunter’s Point Community Middle School serves 100 students in grades 6-8, funded by the Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) and offered at no cost to students attending HPCMS.

The program operates Monday to Friday from 2:40 PM to 5:45 PM, with dismissal at 5:30 PM during winter months.

Students engage in various activities, including homework help, leadership development, physical education, book clubs, and STEM initiatives to enhance their experience. Eighth-grade participants have the unique opportunity to explore college options through an overnight trip, with past visits to prestigious institutions like Harvard, Brown, Cornell, Binghamton, and Princeton.
