82nd Street Academics
82nd Street Academics offers six programs across five locations in Northwest Queens, including Hunter’s Point Community Middle School, PS 280, Renaissance Charter Schools in Jackson Heights and Elmhurst, and our dedicated site at 81-10 35th Avenue in Jackson Heights. Each year, approximately 800 students participate in one of these programs.

Staff Qualifications:

Experience – We seek staff who have faced and overcome societal barriers, as many of our students need relatable role models. Bilingualism is preferred, reflecting the diverse communities we serve. We value team members who are actively pursuing higher education themselves, as they bring a strong understanding of lifelong learning.

Core Values – Our staff is mission-driven, working within effective teams dedicated to delighting and empowering students. Through these efforts, we prepare students for college and instill a passion for lifelong learning.

Opportunities – We offer 100 part-time positions as Lead and Assistant Coaches in our Afterschool programs. If you’re a college or university student seeking a practicum or paid internship, 82nd Street Academics provides meaningful experience with professional development in our "5 Forces" model.
We also offer approximately 30 full-time positions in Early Childhood education and other essential roles that lead the agency and support our teams in their vital work with students (ages 2 to 10th grade).
